根據CNN報導，泰國軍方剛剛宣布接管政府，形同政變。 泰國陸軍將領帕若育下午透過電視向全國宣布：「為了讓國家盡快恢復正常，維和委員會及泰國陸軍、皇家空軍和警方需要徵收內閣權力，時間從5月22日下午4時30分起。」

據法新社報導，泰國反政府和支持政府的雙方領袖已被軍方帶離會議現場，目前狀況不明。
